I heard the neatest story this evening on the radio. My sweet husband had gone into the grocery store to get bananas (to go with morning Cheerios) and I was surfing through the stations as I waited in the car.
There was this farmer (see why I stopped to listen) who complained often about having one problem after another on the farm. He had to make several trips to the nearby town for supplies. His fairly new tractor needed some repairs; his house, large machine shed, and bins all needed a new coat of paint; and rain would fall just when he was set to plant his fields so his grass needed to be mowed weekly.
He decided it was time to hang it up—he would sell the farm. He called a real estate agent to help him with the sale. A very nice, professional-looking young woman came to the farm, and the farmer took her on a tour so she could construct an ad for the sale.
A few days later, the young lady called with her description for the farmer’s approval before she ran the ad. She explained over the phone that the ad would read:
Exceptional farm acreage with late-model machinery for sale. Includes large comfortable farmhouse, beautiful lawn, and plenty of on-site storage. In excellent location.
The farmer listened intently, then was quiet for a moment. When he spoke, he said he had changed his mind about selling. What she had described was just what he had been seeking his whole life.
Perhaps we all need a fresh look around us!
